1. Who we are

Ocean Logistics (Pty) Ltd (registration 2026/106729/07) is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website. Our address is Unit C14, Century Square, Heron Crescent, Century City, Cape Town, 7441, South Africa.

Our Information Officer is Nick, who you can contact at nick@oceanlogistics.co.za or on +27 21 301 0506.

2. What we collect and why

When you send a message through our contact form

Your name, phone number, email address and message. We use these only to reply to your enquiry. Name, email and message are required so that we can respond.

When you request a quote

Your name, company (optional), email and phone number, and the details of your shipment: the service you need, the collection and delivery suburbs or towns, the number, size and weight of the items, a description and value of the goods, and any notes. We use these to prepare and send your quote. We do not ask for the receiver's name, phone number or street address at quote stage.

When you contact us on WhatsApp

If you choose to message us on WhatsApp, your messages are handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own privacy policy, and we use them only to reply to you.

When you visit the website: analytics and cookies

Our hosting provider records technical information such as your IP address and browser type to keep the website secure and to block abuse. We also use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies and does not identify you.

With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the website, so we can improve it. It sets cookies (named _ga) on your device and sends Google information such as the pages you visit, your approximate location, and your device and browser. Google processes this information in the United States. Google Analytics only runs if you click “Accept analytics” on the cookie banner; if you decline, nothing is sent to Google. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. We do not use advertising cookies.

We never ask for ID or passport numbers, payment card details or other sensitive information through this website.

3. Who we share it with

We only share your information when it is needed to deal with your enquiry or shipment:

  • Courier, freight and transport partners needed to price or carry your shipment
  • Licensed customs clearing agents, where your shipment needs customs clearance
  • Service providers who run this website for us: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (secure database) and Resend (email delivery), and our web developer, DN Design
  • Google (website analytics), only if you accept analytics cookies

These providers process information on our behalf, under agreements that require them to keep it secure and confidential. We do not sell your information or use it for marketing without your consent.

4. Where your data is processed

Our database provider does not offer hosting in South Africa, so your information is processed outside the country: our database is hosted in Ireland (European Union), website functions run in Dublin to stay close to it, and our email provider stores account data and logs in the United States, as does Google Analytics if you accept it. These providers are bound by data protection laws and agreements that give your information a level of protection comparable to POPIA, and the transfer is needed to respond to your request.

5. How long we keep it

Contact and quote requests made through this website are deleted automatically after 12 months. If your quote becomes a booking, the booking records are kept in our business systems for as long as the law requires, for example for tax purposes.

6. How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, restricted access to stored data, and spam and abuse protection on our forms. If a security compromise affects your information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you, and for a copy of it
  • ask us to correct or delete your information
  • object to us processing your information
  • withdraw your consent at any time
  • complain to the Information Regulator

To use any of these rights, email nick@oceanlogistics.co.za. We will respond within a reasonable time.

8. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first. You can also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed. Our terms and conditions explain how we handle shipments.
